Understand all associated hazard knowledge
Fire and rescue services can attend numerous incidents, involving a variety of transport types, where the danger to operational crews and the public involved is significant. However, many of the hazards present at these transport incidents are common just as there are hazards that are common for all incident types. The generic control measures for this hazard should be applied when dealing with any incident within the transport context, irrespective of its size, location or complexity.
These control measures set out the actions to be considered particularly in the initial stages of a transport incident, ensuring that incident commanders have relevant information to support the decision control process, establishing early scene control and liaison with other responding agencies.
